Description
Fluval Stratum Substrate, which comes from the foothills of the famous Japanese Mount Aso, whose soil is rich in minerals, is ideal for stimulating the growth of aquatic plants in freshwater aquariums.
Plant roots easily penetrate and spread into the substrate, allowing them to get a variety of key nutrients at their fingertips, and thus thrive. Plus, by including an amount of Fluval Plant Micronutrients, aquatic plants get a full complement of essential macronutrients and micronutrients.
The light, porous and non-compressible texture of the substrate is also very beneficial for nitrifying bacteria, which quickly colonize the vast surface and thus provide water of exceptional quality.
The inherent properties of Fluval Stratum substrate help produce a neutral to slightly acidic pH that is perfect for most plant species, as well as tropical fish species and shrimp that live in planted aquariums.
This substrate also provides an ideal refuge for hatchling shrimp, allowing them to escape predators until they are large enough to emerge.
Fluval Stratum Plant Media does not bleed in water and helps prevent the organic discoloration that typically occurs when natural driftwood is used. Size: 8 kg (17.6 lb)
